I hate when people say things like “That’s just the way it has to be” or ” That’s just how the world works” when talking about world problems. I sincerely believe that it’s only because half the world thinks like that that we have so many problems. I really don’t think that certain people are “bad” and others are “good”. I think that where you grow up, what you are exposed to, and how the authority figures on your life act shape the way you live your life. I think that it IS possible to live in a world of equality and happiness. Now, I’m not saying that I think it’s possible for everyone to have a mansion and a Range Rover; I’m saying that it is possible for everyone to live life, work hard, and be happy. Cheap labor is not a global economic necessity, it’s a pathetic, easy fix to a problem that no one wants to deal with because everyone who isn’t part of that cheap labor is so comfortable where they are. There are no rules to the world. Nothing “has to be” a certain way. If enough people took on the mindset that the world could be a good place, it would happen.
People really just need to get off their lazy asses and actually do something about the problems in the world instead of letting themselves off easy and saying “it has to happen this way, there’s no way around it”. You know when you see statistics about children in third world countries dying every minute, or people working/living for less than $1 a day, you feel bad. But, how many people actually make a conscious effort to change the world after that feeling? The ones who don’t just use those cliche phrases to make themselves feel better about not actively doing anything to help.
Everyone just need to take some responsibility, damn.
“Topanga: Cory, you’ve never told me your quote for the yearbook.
Cory: What did you put?
Topanga: “I do my thing and you do your thing; you are you and I am I; but if in the end we end up together, it’s beautiful.”
Cory: Put the same for me.”—Boy Meets World
“[Mr. Feeny has sent Mr. Turner’s students back to class.]
Turner: What about Hunter and Matthews?
Feeny: Ah. For those two, I shall have to go nuclear.
Turner: What does that mean?
Feeny: I shall call their mommies.”—Boy Meets World
“Feeny: You can’t tell Cory and Topanga what to do. I’ve been trying to do that since the first grade. I remember when I tried to separate their desks. She kicked me. He bit me. And some little punk kept saying, “Leave ‘em alone! They should get married!”
Shawn: I was cute then, huh?
Feeny: [sarcastically] Precious.”—Boy Meets World
“Cory: If you could change your mate into one animal, what would it be and why? Please, nothing fuzzy-wuzzy.
Topanga: A falcon.
Cory: Yes, a falcon. The hunter of all that is fuzzy-wuzzy.
Topanga: No, a falcon because I want you to be free to soar majestically as long as I know that you’ll always come back to me.
Angela: If I ever get like that, kill me.
Shawn: I would have to.”—Boy Meets World
“Topanga: Why are you looking at me like that?
Cory: I will always look at you like this.
Topanga: Well, stop.
Topanga: Because you’re giving me the heebie-jeebies.
Cory: Good.”—Boy Meets World
